Successful Pancake feed for the Dodge City (noon) Lions Club!

The Dodge City (noon) Lions Club feed of 8, 9 and 10 February 2006 was very successful. While the exact figures are not yet available, it looks like the Dodge City Club had one of it's best years!

The final roll of pictures is being developed and will be posted and annotated in early March. Lion Mike Ryba and his wife took some fine pictures and they may agree to displaying them on this blog.

After seeing the old email address spamed to death, I've created a new email address for the Dodge City (noon) Lions Club. This email address is for the webmaster and is dodge_lions @ hotmail.com.

With any kind of luck, the spammers won't find out about this address...

Region 3, Zone 1 Report

District K-3 Cabinet Meeting Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006

CIMARRON - They have 22 members down one from 23. Currently, they are preparing for their soup supper. Last fall they took tickets at football games.

DODGE CITY - Starting at 46 they have had one join, and eight drop for a net loss of seven to 39. However the club has approved the application of one prospective member. Of the eight drops, six of those were due to death, age or illness. Attendance has held steady over the past year. The club is preparing for the annual Pancake Feed. It is delayed to Feb. 9-11 this year due to remodeling at the National Guard Armory. Dodge City Lions took first place in Dodge City for Salvation Army bell ringing. A continuing project is “Recycle for Relay for Life.” The club is no longer doing highway cleanup. Two members attended Mid-Winter Rally.

JETMORE - They have 23 members. That’s all I can report, since I received the first MMR from them ever.

MONTEZUMA - The club is holding steady with five members. They are very successful at fund raising and have been awarding scholarships to local students.

RANSOM - Ransom was up to 20 members briefly, but have settled back down to 19. Net change zero. Over the holidays, they sold Christmas wreathes and they recently had a candy day.

SPEARVILLE - The last MMR I got from them showed 24 members. Per telephone conversation with their secretary, they have 20 members. I’m hoping this number is low. They helped put together Christmas baskets and had a successful soup supper.

UTICA - They still have six members. Over Christmas they decorated the town and brought Santa Claus to the children. They are continuing to recycle as a community service and to raise funds. One member attended Mid-Winter Rally.Starting at 146 with a net loss of 12 members for 134. We’re going in the wrong direction! But the clubs in my Zone seem to be healthy overall.

One secretary told me she did not receive any MMR forms for this year. She says she did submit a PU-101 to International. Another secretary believed if he emailed the MMR to International, the rest of us who needed them automatically received them . I thought I had covered this misunderstood perception in a letter to all secretaries in my Zone!
